Mirco Marchelli
I first came across Mirco Marchelli's work thanks to the magnificent exhibition curated by Daniela Ferretti in 2013 at the Palazzo Fortuny (scenario muta per low clouds). Ten years later, the fantasy of scribbles, the transgression
of the norm, the sought-after imperfection, the happy motives which are its subject
of predilection as well as the principal of its materials - the permanent but never fixed one from which art and time are made - coincide with the funny
of an almost indefinable place where I exhibit - I explore - I show
under the banner of Tourrette artists who amplify my taste for the contemporary Wunderkammer. With a strong poetic quality, BUONI OFFICI refers both to the ecclesiastical world with infinite nuances, revealed: in the visual part, by the plastic application of polymaterials. In the sound part, by the use of themes relating to the world of work, musically underlined by the clear rhythmicity and cadence of the use of the percussive ensemble.
For this new “tangible polyphony” as Paul Klee would write - let us discover the alchemist Mirco - transmuting matter into gold - making use of these fragments and puzzles of ancient friezes, of these forgotten and put away frames, the Art of time becoming time of Art - in the studio of San Lorenzo -. “Gold - The purest of metals which, due to its physical peculiarity, has taken on in all cultures a highly symbolic value in both a positive and negative sense, is a color material difficult to handle with measure and balance. Marchelli tamed it in his own way, with Franciscan humility, using old friezes, fragments of frames, poor abandoned objects patiently collected, set aside, cataloged while waiting for an idea to arise, for a new project to take shape and for the transmutation to take place. The project takes shape and the transmutation is accomplished: from useless dross to presences carrying vibrant compositions, sometimes discreet, sometimes vigorously asserted, and sometimes spirited... baroque... each fragment ceases to be what it was and merges with its neighbor... a devilish Mirco!
