Francesco Balzano was born and raised in Paris, but his visual culture is imbued with images of Venice, Florence, Rome, and Capri, where he spent his summer holidays.
After training in drawing at the Julian Academy at ESAG Penninghen, he studied design and architecture, then joined the famous studio of Joseph Dirand, working on prestigious projects.
In 2018, he opened his own studio and began designing custom and limited edition furniture, manufactured in the best workshops for art and design galleries around the world, while continuing his work as an interior designer for private clients.
At the same time, he began photographic work which would continue to accompany his creative work, nourishing his vision and his inspirations.
In photography, he is passionate about the sensitive works of the Masters in the field who are among others, François Halard, Saul Leiter, Luigi Ghirri, Paolo Roversi, Sarah Moon and Cy Twombly.
Regarding this photographic and unprecedented facet of his work, he also uses the simplicity of framing and purity as a means of ultimate sophistication. In homage to Henri Cartier-Bresson, all the images presented were taken with a Leica film camera, bearing the traits of poetic minimalism and silent contemplation.
