An archaeological season
MARIEPIERRE MOREL, FRANCESCO BALZANO, JULIEN DRACH
As if linked by a common thread, each exhibition at Galerie Carole Korngold echoes the words of philosopher Gorgio Agamben:
"Historians of art and literature know that there is a secret rendezvous between the archaic and the modern, not only because the most archaic forms seem to exert a particular fascination on the present, but above all because the key to the modern is hidden in the immemorial and the prehistoric. This is how the ancient world turns, in the end, to find itself, towards its beginnings; the avant-garde, which has lost its way in time, seeks the primitive and the archaic. It is in this sense that we can say that the path to the present necessarily has the form of an archaeology. " (Giorgio Agamben, What is the Contemporary?, Paris, 2008)
